Grand Rapid, MI - The Highlanders tipped-off their season opener in the Calvin College Classic on Friday against North Park University.

The Vikings duo of Mark Holmes and Aaron Weaver proved too much to handle for Cairn University, as the two combined for 52 in North Park's 79-55 win.
Cairn relied heavily on their starters, as four players logged 30 plus minutes while
Charles Hopkins saw 29 minutes of action. Sophomore
Seth Heinicke paced the Highlanders with 19 points, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. He completed his double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds as well. Cairn struggled all night from the floor, shooting an unimpressive 33% on 19-of-58 shooting. North Park finished with a much better 50% shooting from the field.
On a bright spot for the Highlanders, they forced 12 North Park turnovers with their defensive play. Brothers
Reuben Lacy and
Barron Lacy continue to improve combining down low for 10 points, while Barron grabbed 5 offensive rebounds and 9 total.
Charles Hopkins finished with 11 points.
With the loss, the Highlanders move into the consolation game to face-off against Grace Bible. That match is set for 1pm CST.
