Marywood Steals Win at the End

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- Philadelphia Biblical University's Men's Basketball team may regret letting this game get away from them.

The Crimson Eagles came into this game hoping to put an end to their CSAC woes, as they were 1-6. Early on it looked as though they may do just that. PBU jumped out to an early 10-0 lead thanks to 4 quick points each from Jeff Bishop (Souderton, PA / Souderton) and Charles Kennedy (Philadelphia, PA / Roxborough). But Marywood would answer with a 13-2 run to take a 13-12 lead and erase any advantage the Crimson Eagles had built. From that point on, the teams stayed within 3 points of each other all the way up til halftime. They entered the locker room deadlocked at 25-25.

While Marywood seemed to have a well-rounded attack in the first half with 6 players scoring but none with more than 6 points, it was the Bishop and Kennedy show for the Crimson Eagles. Bishop dropped 10 first half points and Kennedy had 9.

The second half turned into a Kennedy (PBU) vs. Lepri (MU) showdown. Kennedy would score 13 second half points, one better than Marywood's Matt Lepri. Kennedy finished with a game-high 22 points.

Halfway through the second half, PBU had worked its way to a 47-40 lead. They would extended that even more with just under 4 minutes to play, leading 55-47. But the Pacers Matt Lepri would hit two 3-pointers and a lay-up in the span of a minute and a half to tie the game for the 7th time at 55-55.

Despite leading for much of the game, PBU was unable to hold onto the lead at the end and saw the win slip from their hands as Marywood outscored PBU 6-4 over the final 2:24 for the 61-59 win.

The loss drops PBU to 3-10, 1-7. Marywood moves to 6-9, 5-3.

This Saturday, PBU travels to Aston, PA to take on Neumann University. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
