ROSEMONT, PA
- In a smash-n-grab effort, the Ravens of Rosemont College snuck past the visiting Crimson Eagles 2-0 on Thursday.

Soccer can be a cruel sport. It is one of the only sports where one competitor can appear to have complete dominance over their opponent and still end up on the losing end. In a match that was dominated from start to finish by the Crimson Eagles, they learned firsthand how cruel the sport can be.

However, before their dominance was to show, PBU gave up a very early goal in only the 3rd minute of play. Giving up early goals is a dangerous game to play and it costs the ladies.

Down 1-0, PBU began to apply the pressure. They would take 11 shots in the first half but were unable to crack the Ravens keeper, Gina Donnelly. In fact, despite only having 9 shots all game, Rosemont would score a late half insurance goal giving them a 2-0 lead going in the break.

The second half brought plenty more of the same, with vast portions of the game played in the Ravens defensive half. PBU moved the ball, connecting on long sequences of passes, but were unable to find the breakthrough. Without their biggest goal-scoring threat in Kathleen Meacham or the engine in midfield, Rachel Brubaker, both out with injuries, the Crimson Eagles seemed out of ideas on how to achieve a goal.

In the end, the Ravens would hold off the Crimson Eagle onslaught and improve to 2-2 in the CSAC, 3-4 overall. PBU falls to 0-4 in the CSAC, and 2-7 overall.

A harsh reality within the Colonial States Athletic Conference, you can find yourself on the losing end on any given day even when you bring a positive performance.

PBU will now have one days rest and preparation before their big Homecoming showdown with Notre Dame of Maryland. Kick-off is at 1pm in Langhorne, Pa. Bring the kiddies and enjoy some good food, fun, and athletics.
