PBU Fights For 1-0 Win

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- PBU's Men's Soccer team came away with a hard-fought, and at times, a feisty contest with Penn St.-Abington 1-0.

For the second season running the Crimson Eagles frustrated and shutout Penn St-Abington, one of the top teams in the NEAC conference. PBU won last year's match-up 1-0 as well.

In a solid defensive effort, the team was able to put together their first 90 minutes of shutout soccer, led by senior captain Dave Simon. Simon controlled the backline and came in with some strong tackles to keep thing secure at the back. Junior's John Badidis, Sam Hunter, and Jon Minnema also contributed heavily on the defensive end, putting in a good shift. In the only two goal bound efforts from PSU-Abington, sophomore keeper Dave Shaffer easily saved.

As the saying goes, "If the other team can't score, we can't lose." But what's known around PBU as the Booker Clause, "If you can't score, you can't win." And score the Crimson Eagles did.

In the 22nd minute, Gary Bruce and Seth Mangum combined to tee up Cody Mosely, who slotted his second goal in as many contests. Mosely has equaled his goal-tally for all of last season in just 5 games. Gary Bruce also equals his assist output from last season. Hopefully it won't be his last this season.

PBU now begins their Colonial States Athletic Conference matches. On Saturday, the squad will travel north on the Northeast Extension to take on CSAC power-house Marywood. The game begins at 3:30pm.
