Box Score
LANGHORNE, PA - PBU's Men's Soccer team will feel hard done by after coming up on the short end of a 2-1 score line against the visiting Aggies of Delaware Valley College.
The Crimson Eagles would control large portions of the match, maintaining possession throughout and generating a lot of scoring opportunities, only to see their chances stopped time-and-time again by Aggies shot stopper DJ Meisinger. Meisinger would finish with 9 saves for the game, a majority of which were goal-bound.
However, once again the Crimson Eagles would make things difficult for themselves by getting off on the wrong foot. Only 6 minutes into the contest, Tyler Yankovich would put the Aggies up 1-0. PBU responded well by applying pressure and moving the ball around nicely, but would have to wait until the 2nd half before they would find a breakthrough.
It came in the form of sophomore midfielder Cody Mosely. After two golden opportunities were blocked in quick succession by DJ Meisinger, the ball would fall to Mosely at the top of the box. Mosely one-timed his shot to the side net, knotting the score at 1-1.
The rest of the match was spent in Delaware Valley's half as the Crimson Eagles applied continuous pressure, only to be done in by a quick counter. With 11 minutes remaining, freshman forward Alex Stear would turn his defender and slot the ball past PBU keeper Dave Shaffer, who despite getting some contact on the ball was unable to stop it from crossing the line.
PBU had several other opportunities throughout the 2nd half and late on. Gary Bruce, for the second game running, found one his free-kicks coming off the post. Seth Mangum saw a point-blank effort saved by the impressive Meisinger. The best chance to equalize fell to junior defender Jon Minnema in the final minute, whose header beat Meisinger but saw it go agonizingly close but on the wrong side of the post.
PBU falls to 1-3. They return to action on Wednesday, September 14th. They will take on Penn State-Abington.
