ALLENTOWN, PA - The softball team came up empty on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of games to Cedar Crest College by scores of 5-3 and 10-2.
Despite logging eight hits to just three for the Falcons for the game, the Crimson Eagles saw the host group capitalize when necessary. Up 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Cedar Crest notched three scores in the frame to help put up a two run cushion.
The visitors left 11 runners on base for the game, and - despite walking a season high eight times - the group failed to produce significant run support for PBU's pitching crew.
Gabbie O'Deens finished three for three in the losing effort while Kim Martin allowed just three hits while striking out a trio in six innings of work from the mound.
Game two saw Cedar Crest's offense erupt for 10 runs as the host squad scored in all six innings of plate work. Following a 2-0 lead after the first, the Crimson Eagles struggled to produce offensive firepower the rest of the way despite nine hits in the game.
Jessica Heck, Sara Poole, and Sarah Hollenback each put up two hits during the nightcap.
The Crimson Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday during a road date with Gwynedd-Mercy College. Game time is 3:00 pm.
