ROSEMONT, PA - The Crimson Eagles were crippled by a handful of defensive miscues Saturday afternoon during a pair of losses to Rosemont College as the Ravens topped PBU by scores of 8-0 and 9-1.
The host group collected just seven hits during an 8-0 triumph over their counterpart but were helped by seven errors from the Crimson Eagles on the defensive end.
Locked at 0-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Rosemont exploded for seven runs in the stanza and were aided by three blunders from PBU to help break open the previously scoreless outing. The Ravens tacked on an insurance tally an inning later en route to their third win of the season.
Kim Martin finished the contest 2-for-2 to pace the Crimson Eagles at the plate.
In the nightcap, the host squad knocked around 14 hits and were once again assisted by a shaky effort in the field from the Crimson Eagles as the visitors botched five more defensive plays.
Down just 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, Rosemont pounded out seven scores over the ensuing two frames to break open a 9-1 edge. Four players logged three hits during the nightcap for the Ravens.
PBU knocked around five hits for the contest and tallied their only run of the afternoon during the top of the second stanza.
The Crimson Eagles will wrap up their season on Monday during a home tilt with the College of Notre Dame. Game one of the doubleheader is slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
