GWYNEDD-MERCY, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy College used a stingy defensive effort during a pair of wins over the Crimson Eagles Monday afternoon as the Griffins collected wins of 11-1 and 9-1.
In the opener, the Griffins crossed home plate three times during the opening frame and extended their lead in the bottom of the second with two additional scores en route to an eight run victory over their counterpart.
PBU managed just three hits throughout the six inning affair but were aided during the top of the fifth by a trio of Gwynedd-Mercy errors. PBU capitalized with a solo run during the stanza but it would be all the visitors could manage in the opener.
Sara Poole was the visitor's only offense threat during the loss as the junior shortstop produced all three of PBU's hits for the game.
In the nightcap, the Griffins jumped out early, notching five runs in the opening inning before posting an additional five scores in the fourth on their way to an 11-1 triumph.
The Crimson Eagles gifted the host group six errors and were able to generate just two base hits for the contest in the losing effort.
The team will return to the field on Tuesday during a make-up single game with Neumann University. Game time is slated for 4:30 pm.
