ASTON, PA - The softball team struggled to get things going at the plate Saturday morning as the group produced just two hits during a 16-0 shutout loss to Neumann University.
Knight hurler Rachel Purpuro nearly tossed a gem during the five inning blanking of PBU as the junior pitcher allowed only two singles from the visitors throughout the afternoon.
Neumann got rolling early and often, however, spanking around 17 hits on the day while manufacturing 10 runs in the opening two frames alone.
Sara Poole and Kim Martin were the only two Crimson Eagle runners to reach base in the loss.
Neumann, who won their 17th game of the year following the victory, equated their greatest run production of the season in the win.
Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain showers and is yet to be rescheduled.
The softball team will look to bounce back on Monday against Gwynedd-Mercy College on the road at 3:00 pm.
