LANGHORNE, PA - The men's basketball squad was shot down at home by visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College late Thursday evening as the Griffins were on cruise control during a 103-69 victory over PBU.
Gwynedd-Mercy was scorching throughout the opening 20 minutes as the visitors shot 28 for 42 (66.7 percent) throughout the first frame. The Griffins hit half of their 3-point attempts for the contest (seven for 14) while watching four players log 15 on more points on the night.
The Crimson Eagles shot relatively well on the night, hitting 49.1 percent of their attempts including an eight of 16 mark from downtown. But it was the group's defense that was in question as PBU allowed the opponent to log 100-plus points for the fifth time this season.
Gwynedd was efficient with the basketball, giving the ball away just seven times during the contest. PBU was hit with 21 turnovers for the game, a stat that led to a 20-point edge in points off of the miscues for the Griffins for the game.
Adam Derus led the Crimson Eagles with 14 points and Brett Zamroz added 11, Jeff Bishop chipped in with seven points, six boards, and five assists in the losing effort.
The basketball team will get back into action on Saturday when the group heads to Clarks Summit to take on Baptist Bible College at 3:00 pm.
