LANGHORNE, PA - Philadelphia Biblical University gets their first Colonial States Athletic Conference since a February 18, 2010 win over Marywood University.
The Crimson Eagles defeated the Cyclones of Centenary College 94-80 to improve to 3-6 overall, but more importantly get their first CSAC win of the season.
The one-two-three combination of
Jeff Bishop (Souderton, PA / Souderton), Adam Derus (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township), and
Wendell Torres (Erie, PA / East) proved too much for the Cyclones. Adam Derus led all players with 14 first half points, shooting 4-for-8 from 3 point range. Jeff Bishop went 4-for-4 from the field, good enough for 8 points. Torres added 12 first half points from down low.
PBU had a ten point advantage going into the break, 42-32.
The second half continued much the same way the first half did. The Crimson Eagles eventually worked up to a 20 point lead midway through the second half. By the end of the game, the Cyclones had cut the lead but were unable to stop the PBU's offense.
Adam Derus finished with a career-high 30 points. Jeff Bishop and Wendell Torres both finished with double-doubles, Bishop recording 18 points and 13 rebounds. Torres did even better with 23 points and 16 rebounds.
PBU will now have off several weeks until the New Year.
