Women's Volleyball Still Alive After Splitting Day 1 at Nationals

Senior Rebekah Morrison Trying To Go Out With A National Title
KISSIMMEE, FL - Philadelphia Biblical University's Women's Volleyball team are still alive after day 1 at the NCCAA National Tournament.

In the first match of the day, the #7 Crimson Eagles dropped a 3-1 decision to the #3 seed Kentucky Christian College. Kentucky Christian quickly took control of the match, winning the first set 25-11. In the second set, the Crimson Eagles picked up their play and were leading by several points midway through the set, only to let the lead slip and fall 25-19. Down 2-0, PBU refused to quit and won their first set of the tournament, Kentucky Christian would win the third set to secure the crucial first win.

Despite the early loss, the Crimson Eagles were still alive with the top two teams from each pool making it to the semi-finals. But they need to win the rest of their games and they had little time to rest between the first match and their next against #10 Florida Christian.

PBU eased an early elimination jitters they may have had by winning the first stanza 25-21. With some of their nerves calmed, the Crimson Eagles looked even more impressive in the second set, convincingly taking the second set 25-10. Florida Christian made things interesting when they won the third set 25-27. Unfazed, PBU's ladies closed things out winning 25-18 in the fourth set and kept their championship hopes alive.

PBU now takes on Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Lincoln Christian College in their final two matches in pool play. Maranatha, from the Midwest Region, is the #2 seed and Lincoln Christian, the #6 seed, are from the Central Region.
