LANGHORNE, PA
- Philadelphia Biblical University's Men's Soccer team advances to the NCCAA East Region Final after defeating Valley Forge Christian College 5-2.

The Crimson Eagles outshot the Patriots of Valley Forge 35-9 and forced Valley Forge's keeper, John Luchon into 11 saves.

PBU's senior forward Justin Hays (Heiloo, Netherlands / Jan Arentsz) scored his 3rd goal of the season, his first from open play, just after six minutes to get the Crimson Eagles rolling. PBU would dominate the half and possession, unloading 22 shots at goal in the first 45 minutes of the game, but were unfortunate not to have found the back of the net again.

PBU did miss the best chance to go ahead by 2 goals when they missed a penalty kick halfway through the half.

Valley Forge midfielder Jehu Wilson would make PBU sweat a little when he beat his defender end line and somehow managed to put the ball between the post and PBU goalkeeper Dave Shaffer (Denver PA / Garden Spot).

The teams went into the half all tied at 1-1.

The second half began with a bang as PBU scored only 6 seconds into the half. The Crimson Eagles stole the ball of the kick-off, went immediately down field through sophomore defender Jeremy McAlack (Newtown, PA / Council Rock North) and junior forward Seth Mangum (Souderton, PA / Souderton). Mangum put in a glorious cross, which Gary Bruce (Nottingham, England / Nottingham Bluecoat) delightfully volleyed home with his left-foot.

The onslaught continued 4 minutes later on a very identical play. This time sophomore midfielder Cody Mosely (Newport News, VA / Denbigh Baptist) played a nice combination with Mangum to once again set-up Bruce, who made no mistake one-timing his left-footed effort inside the far-post.

In the 66th minute, Gary Bruce returned the favor to Mangum, helping set up Mangum's 4th goal of the season. Bruce played a one-touch combination with fellow forward Justin Hays to play in Mangum who slotted home, making it 4-1.

The score would remain the same until the 88th minute when Valley Forge were awarded a free-kick 40 yards out. On the ensuing play, the Patriots Matt McKenzie was allowed to head home after an infraction inside the box went unnoticed, leaving PBU keeper Dave Shaffer unable to make a play on the ball.

The scoring was not finished though. Freshman Sam Gallagher (Collegeville, PA / West-Mont Christian) scored his first career collegiate goal in the 90th minute. Fellow freshman Eric Hodges (Newport News, VA / Denbigh Baptist) played one-two passes with junior midfielder Joran Hays (Heiloo, Netherlands / Jan Arentsz) to set Gallagher in alone on goal. The freshman superbly finished with one touch. 5-2 to PBU.

PBU will now face Lancaster Bible on Saturday, October 29, after LBC defeated Baptist Bible 2-0 in the regions other semi-final encounter.
