SCRANTON. PA - Philadelphia Biblical University's Women's Soccer team went to overtime with Keystone College but lost 2-1.
Keystone's Samantha Littleford scored her 2nd goal of the game in the 94th minute to give the Giants a crucial Colonial States Athletic Conference win.
All three goals in the game were from free-kicks directly into the net.
In the 15th minute, Littleford put the Giants ahead when she knocked home a free-kick from 24 yards out.
PBU's junior Rachel Brubaker (Shippensburg, PA / Shippensburg) scored for the second game in a row to tie the score at 1-1. Brubaker upped Littleford's free-kick by putting in one of her own, this one from 35 yards out, with just over 4 minutes remaining in the first half.
Both teams would play out a scoreless second half, sending the match into extra time. There Keystone benefited from a foul and straight red to PBU's Jess Holt (Waldorf, MD / Grace Brethren) only 3 minutes into overtime. From the ensuing free-kick, Littleford placed the ball just out of the reach of Crimson Eagle keeper Sara Poole (Edison, NJ / Timothy Christian), and condemning PBU to a 1-10 conference mark.
"We played well but unfortunately things didn't go our way," said PBU's Head Coach Laura Behnke.
Despite playing better throughout the season than their record indicates, PBU finished their regular season 3-14.
The Crimson Eagles will take on the Defenders of Baptist Bible in the Semi-final of the NCCAA East Region playoff for the chance to compete in the regional final. Lancaster Bible and Valley Forge Christian College will square off in the other semi-final.
The semi-finals will take place Wednesday, October 26. PBU will travel to Clarks Summit, Pa as the #3 seed.
