Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - On a cold and rainy day, Philadelphia Biblical University fall 1-6 to Gwynedd-Mercy College.
The match was originally scheduled to be played at PBU, but the rainy weather made PBU's grass field unplayable so it was moved to Gwynedd-Mercy.
The Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy wasted little time jumping all over the Crimson Eagles when Kasey Reid scored Gwynedd's first goal after only 2:21. Meghan Bojanowski made it 2-0 six minutes later, heading directly into the net off of a corner.
PBU's women would resist for another 15 minutes before two more quick strikes would make it 4-0 before halftime. Michelle Pool and Gwen Conte scored only 3:24 apart. Pool's goal came in the 24th minute after her shot gratuituosly bounced off a Crimson Eagle defender and found its way across the goal line. Conte scored in the 28th minute from the penalty spot after a foul in the box.
There would be no let up in the second frame. Gwynedd's Gwen Conte scored her 2nd goal of the game just over 4 minutes after the restart, putting away a scrum inside the box.
The Griffins' last goal would come in the 68th minute. Brigid Dowling would finish off a cross from Conte to give Gwynedd-Mercy a commanding 6-0 lead.
Never one's to lie down; the Crimson Eagles would eventually find the back of the net. Naomi Collip would score her first collegiate goal ever in the 73rd minute. Chelsea Troyer put in a beautiful goalmouth cross that Collip got to the end of.
PBU's goal would come off their only shot of the game. Gwynedd-Mercy took 29 shots.
PBU's Sarah Poole made 8 saves in goal, doing her part to keep the game as close as she could.
The women will travel up to La Plume, Pa this Saturday to take on Keystone College in their final regular season match of 2011.
