ASTON, PA - Scoring the second most points during a single game of the season Thursday night, PBU's offense was clicking on all cylinders. The only problem? So was Neumann's.
Neumann used 14 opening half offensive rebounds to help manufacture a 64-44 margin during the opening stanza as the Crimson Eagles ultimately surrendered their third straight 100-point defensive performance in a row by the time all was said and done.
The Crimson Eagles drilled 60.0 percent of their first half attempts and ended the contest with a respectable 51.6 percent shooting clip. However, the visitors watched the Knights light up the scoreboard as the host group toppled the triple digit barrier, logging 106 points during a 20 point thumping in CSAC play.
Neumann held a 24-11 edge in turnovers for the game and ultimately rifled off 18 more shots for the game than their counterpart. The Knights were paced by four players in double figures during a well rounded effort that saw eight players log seven or more points in the scoring column.
Despite the 20 point halftime deficit, the Crimson Eagles continued to battle and at one point cut the margin to 12 midway through the second frame. However, a 10-2 spurt late in the period helped put the game away for the host group in what marks Neumann's third conference triumph of the season.
Playing in his first game as a Crimson Eagle, junior transfer Claude Chalk dropped in a double-double, finishing with 24 points and 11 boards while knocking down four of six trifectas. Rookie forward Jeff Bishop pumped in 23 points and seven boards on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor and second year forward Freddie Santucci logged 11 points in 14 minutes of work.
The Crimson Eagles will get back into action on Saturday during a match-up with Cabrini College at Penn College's famed Palestra facility. Game time against the Cavaliers is 1:00 pm.
