LANGHORNE, PA
- After getting upended by Messiah College 3-1 Saturday morning, the Crimson Eagles bounced back with a resilient effort during their afternoon match-up, slipping past the University of Scranton by a 3-2 margin.

During the opening match with Messiah, the women's volleyball squad got into an early hole, going down 25-13, 25-11 after the opening two frames. PBU clawed back into the contest during the third set, outgunning the Falcons 28-26, but a 25-18 loss in what ended up being the final game put the nail in the coffin for the host group.

Messiah used a .236 hitting percentage for the match while posting a 51-24 edge in kills to help boost the Falcons to their eighth win of the season. The visitors spread the wealth with three players reaching the double-digit column in spikes while also utilizing nine collective service aces throughout the morning affair.

PBU's nine return errors didn't do the host squad any favors as the Crimson Eagles were hindered into a sub .100 hitting percentage for the eighth time this season. Carly Plank finished with eight kills and nine digs and Rachel Calderon posted six and nine, respectively. Rebakah Morrison chipped in with 11 assists, two aces, and 10 digs in the losing effort.

Following a disappointing morning finish, the Crimson Eagles responded to the adversity by pulling out an admirable triumph against a gritty Scranton team. PBU polished off the Royals by scores of 22-25, 25-20, 32-30, 19-25, 15-12.

The win came despite a significant 67-40 deficit in total kills for the match. The difference-maker proved to be PBU's efficiency in the error department as Scranton racked up 35 attack errors (compared to 17 for the Crimson Eagles) along with a 16-3 disadvantage in total service blunders.

Calderon paced PBU with 18 spikes and 18 digs while Plank added 12 kills, 22 digs, and three aces. Erika Catalano posted 18 stops on the defensive end for PBU.

The Crimson Eagles will return to the court on Tuesday, hosting Moravian College in non-conference action at 7:00 pm.
