LANGHORNE, PA - The PBU women's soccer team fell to Bryn Mawr College 1-0 at home Thursday. The loss, their fifth straight defeat, drops the Crimson Eagles to 1-7 on the year.
For the third straight game, it was a early goal in the first five minutes that put the Crimson Eagles on their heels right from the get-go. This time, it was Bryn Mawr's Kathi Seto scoring just 25 seconds into the game.
"We need to shake the habit of making early mistakes and giving up early goals," said head coach Dewey Landon.
With essentially the rest of the game still to go, PBU had plenty of time to score the equalizer. But Bryn Mawr put the clamps down defensively.
"The ladies played much better in the 2nd half," said Landon. "It seemed like we had the ball in their end most of the half, but we just couldn't find a way through."
With about 10 minutes remaining, PBU nearly earned a penalty kick as Kathleen Meacham advanced the ball near the box. She earned a foul, but the call was made just outside the box, and the Crimson Eagles were unable to take advantage.
Bryn Mawr out shot the Crimson Eagles 14-7, and the PBU offense only forced goalie Rebecca Joseph to make two saves all game. Kristen Lyszczasz made seven saves in goal for PBU.
With the win, Bryn Mawr improved to 2-5 on the year.
PBU will look to end the losing streak back on Saturday as they host Neumann University at 1:00 p.m. in CSAC play. Neumann will come to Langhorne with a 1-4-1 record on the year.
