Softball Stopped by Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, PA -
The softball team's late season push for a postseason bid came screeching to a halt Friday evening during a combo of losses to Centenary College.

Needing to secure at least one of two games during during Friday's match-up to keep their playoff chances alive, the Crimson Eagles couldn't pull off the upset against the current second seeded Cyclones, falling 9-1 and 2-1.

The host group utilized a sixth run fourth inning during the opening contest, breaking open an early 3-0 edge to a 9-0 margin by the time the stanza finished. PBU knocked around only two hits for the game while whiffing 13 times at the plate.

During a defensive-minded bout in game two, both teams scored a run a piece during the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Centenary scored the go-ahead and eventual game winning run on a crucial walk as neither team managed to cross home the rest of the way.

The Crimson Eagles fall to 11-23 on the year while the Cyclones improve to 27-11.

PBU will wrap up their season Saturday afternoon when the group takes on Immaculata University on the road at 1:00 pm.
