Marywood Topples Softball Team

SCRANTON, PA - Marywood University blasted 22 hits throughout a two game stretch to tally consecutive victories over the Crimson Eagles Friday afternoon.

The Pacers knocked around 12 hits during the opening contest en route to a 12-4 victory over the visitors. Despite PBU scoring a single run in the top of the first, Marywood responded by exploding for eight scores over the second and third innings to help push the group past the Crimson Eagles.

The Pacers also capitalized on seven free passes to first base in the form of walks while the visitors helplessly watched Marywood register their third double-digit scoring output of the season.

The host group somehow managed to overcome seven errors over the course of game two, utilizing another strong performance at the plate to lift the Pacers to their ninth win of the season. Despite their miscues defensively, Marywood bashed 10 hits en route to an 11-4 triumph over PBU.

The Crimson Eagles were hindered by nine base runners left stranded and struggled in the walk department for the second straight contest, giving up nine total.

Caroline DeHart posted a three for eight effort at the plate with three runs scored and Jackie Morrow connected for two base hits and a single RBI. Kim Martin, Molly Wilson, and Sara Poole each added two hits.

The softball team will return to Langhorne on Saturday for a double-header with Gwynedd-Mercy College at 1:00 pm.
