Baptist Snags Sweep in Langhorne

LANGHORNE, PA - Run production was all-but absent for the Crimson Eagles during their double-header with Baptist Bible College on Tuesday, as the Defenders churned out wins of 6-2 and 6-0 over their longtime rival.

Despite managing just five hits throughout game one, Baptist used timely hitting to pound out two scores in the top of the first and four runs during the top of the second, breaking open an early 6-1 edge. Two errors during that span on the part of PBU proved costly, leading to three unearned BBC runs.

The game would remain a defensive grudge match the rest of the way as neither team managed to score until the Crimson Eagles tallied a single run during the bottom of the seventh with two outs.

During the second outing of the afternoon, Baptist collected two runs during the initial inning to secure an early edge. The Defenders utilized a four run inning in the bottom of the fourth to signal the second straight outing that BBC carded six scores.

PBU actually outhit the visitors 7-5 for the game but surrendered 10 walks in the loss.

Caroline DeHart had a dominate day at the play, blasting six hits in eight at bats to lead the way offensively for the host group. Jackie Morrow and Lauren Roth both added two hits.

The softball team will get back into action on the road this Friday when the group goes up against Marywood university in a double-header at 3:00 pm.
