LANGHORNE, PA - Saturday's doubleheader against Cedar Crest College would have been a painstaking event for anyone who loves defensive precision and execution.
But for those who love to hear the crack of the bat, Saturday's spar with the Falcons was a gem.
The Crimson Eagles knocked around 21 runs during the double-header, giving the group a collective mark of 46 scores over the past four games.
For an offense that sputtered mid-way through the season, things have done a 180 as of late.
But Saturday's efforts weren't without a scare. The opening contest actually saw PBU down 6-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth until the Crimson Eagles erupted for a five run explosion, helping the group grind out a 9-6 triumph. An error on the part of the Falcons proved to be a game changer during the bottom of the fifth as the Crimson Eagles cleared the bases on a miscue from the visitor's second baseman.
PBU hammed out 11 hits during six innings at the plate while capitalizing on five walks.
The second affair was particularly shaky for the Crimson Eagles defensively, but the host group's recent dominance at the plate was enough to hold off a pesky Falcon club that notched nine runs during the game.
Senior pitcher Kristen Lyszczasz threw a three hitter throughout six innings of work on the mound, but five Crimson Eagle errors mixed with 13 total free passes allowed the Falcons to cross home nine different times.
Thankfully, the Crimson Eagles were destructive in the box, blasting 16 hits in just 32 plate appearances as a team. PBU scored in all but one inning during the win, wracking up 12 runs in the process to suppress Cedar Crest by three runs for the second straight contest.
Caroline DeHart and Lauren Roth both churned out four hits during the pair of wins while Sara Poole, Courtney Erndl, Kim Martin, Molly Wilson, and Lyszczasz carded three each.
The Crimson Eagles move to 6-6 in CSAC action on the year.
The softball team will get back into action on Tuesday when the group challenges Delaware Valley College on the road at 3:00 pm.
