LANGHORNE, PA - The softball team split with Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday afternoon, triumphing 8-0 during game one but falling 7-6 in extra innings during the second outing.
Crimson Eagle pitcher Kim Martin tossed a one-hitter during the opening contest while allowing just a single walk. PBU broke open the game by scoring five runs on the bottom of the fifth, utilizing six hits during the crucial stanza.
The second affair would be decided in dramatic fashion, requiring nine innings of play before deciding a victor. The Griffins notched a pair of scores during the top of the ninth to pull out the win.
Sara Pool paved the way offensively for PBU, carding four hits in nine plate appearances. Kim Martin added three hits and two runs throughout the afternoon.
The Crimson Eagles will return to the field for a non-conference home tilt against Eastern University on Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
