LANGHORNE, PA - Run support was lacking during PBU's two game stint with Polytechnic University Thursday afternoon as the Blue Jays secured 3-2 and 11-1 victories over the Crimson Eagles.
Despite another solid performance on the mound from rookie ace Gabrielle Barger during the opening contest, the host group failed to produce significant help on the offensive end, crossing home plate just twice throughout the seven inning affair.
After going down 1-0 in the top of the first, the Crimson Eagles responded by knocking in two scores during the bottom of the stanza to take control. However, Polytechnic's two runs in the top of the third ended up being the final two scores of the game as PBU stranded seven runners on base for the game.
Game two was different from the get-go as Polytechnic knocked in three score in three different innings. The Blue Jays ultimately scored 11 runs on 12 hits en route to their ninth triumph of the season. PBU was hindered with four costly errors for the contest - seven in all on the day - compared with none for the visitors.
Sara Poole pounded out four his in seven at-bats while Caroline DeHart finished the afternoon with three hits in seven tries. Lauren Roth chipped in with two singles and an RBI.
The Crimson Eagles fall to 3-5 on the year while Polytechnic moves to 9-7.
PBU will look to bounce back this Saturday during a date with non-conference foe Rutgers-Camden University at 1:00 pm.
