GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - Down just 31-26 with five minutes remaining in the opening period, the Crimson Eagles watched host Gwynedd-Mercy College go on an 18-0 tear during the closing moments of the first 20 minutes en route to a convincing 104-47 triumph over PBU.
The Griffins continued their frenzied pace during the opening ticks of the second frame, spouting off a 15-4 spurt over the first five minutes to push their edge to 66-30 just five minutes in.
Gwynedd forced the Crimson Eagles into 32 turnovers for the night while corralling 28 offensive rebounds en route the their fourth win of the season thus far. PBU struggled to contain the length and strength of GMC's interior presence as the Griffins rolled to a 56-24 edge in points in the paint while manufacturing a 31-5 margin in second chance points.
Nine players scored six or more points for the host group as Gwynedd knocked ultimately put up 38 more field goal attempts than their counterpart for the night, knocking down 44.7 percent of their looks.
The Crimson Eagles were paced by 13 points from sophomore Adam Derus while junior guard Jeremy Pearson put up a career high mark of 12 points on 10 of 11 shooting from the charity stripe.
The basketball team will have a five day break before returning to game action this Saturday against Lancaster Bible College. Game time against the Chargers is slated for 4:00 pm.
