KISSIMMEE, FL - The men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to seventh ranked Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College Saturday morning during the final day of the NCCAA National Tournament.
Following a scoreless opening period, the Saints registered the first goal of the contest just four minutes into the second frame when senior midfielder Jeff Ives found the back of PBU's cage off an unassisted strike from inside the box.
However, the Crimson Eagles evened things on the shoulders of their go-to man up top. Freshman Gary Bruce - who finished the season recording over half of PBU's 31 total goals - manufactured his 16th score of the year off a beautiful header feed from sophomore Seth Mangum in the 54th minute.
With the score tied 1-1, Hillsdale finally prevailed once again during the 74th minute on one of their 11 shots in the period. Rookie Dillon Espinoza rifled a bullet into the net on a free kick, pushing his group up 2-1 with 16 minutes to play.
The Crimson Eagles responded with a strong offensive push down the stretch but failed to capitalize in the waning moments, ultimately leading to their sixth one goal loss of the season.
Following Saturday's tournament finale, PBU closes out the season with an overall record of 6-12-4.
