HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - Needing a win to get in, the women's volleyball team took care of business Thursday, ousting Centenary College 3-0 to punch their ticket into the CSAC postseason.
Realizing the importance of Saturday's tilt, the Crimson Eagles slugged out a 26-24,25-9, 25-17 victory, punishing the host group during the second frame by allowing the Cyclones to register just four kills in 31 attempts.
Following a somewhat sluggish first set, PBU was dominant the rest of the way. The Crimson Eagles battered the Cyclones with a .313 hitting clip over the final two games while manufacturing 26 kills in the process.
Additionally, PBU pestered the host team with 12 services aces, a number that marks the ninth time the Crimson Eagles have reached double digits in that category.
Statistics aside, the Crimson Eagles made their most important mark with a check in the win-column, guaranteeing the squad a coveted spot in the CSAC postseason tournament, marking the third straight year they've managed a playoff bid.
Carly Plank dished up 10 kills, 12 digs and 4 aces to lead the Crimson Eagles while Lindsey Dager chipped in with 7 spikes and 2 service aces. Rachel Calderon added 6 kills and 16 stops defensively.
The win gives the Crimson Eagles the fifth seed in the upcoming conference tournament slated to begin on Tuesday. The team will face off with fourth seeded Marywood University in Scranton, a group that PBU was swept by back in September.
