Four First Half Goals Propel Neumann Past PBU

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - The bad news following Tuesday's match-up with Neumann University was that the Crimson Eagles fell to the visitors 4-1. The good news? PBU's playoff hopes are still alive, be it barely.

Facing the top-ranked Knights, the opening 15 minutes proved to be disastrous for the host group. The Crimson Eagles allowed four goals within the span as Neumann notched their first score of the game at the 5:37 mark and would go on to pound in three more scores within the ensuing 10 minutes of play.

Although the opening moments probably couldn't have gone much worse, the Crimson Eagles remained resilient and ultimately shut down Neumann's powerhouse offense for the remaining 75 minutes of action despite the visitors firing 21 total shots on goal for the day.

PBU, meanwhile, avoided their fifth shutout loss of the season thanks to an Aaron Niermans' score with five minutes left in the second stanza, bringing the final count to 4-1.

Although a win against the Knights would have locked the Crimson Eagles into the sixth and final CSAC playoff spot, the group can still sneak in pending a Keystone triumph over Gwynedd-Mercy this Saturday.

Neumann out shot the Crimson Eagles on Tuesday by a 21-2 margin, limiting the host group to their lowest shot number of the season. Andrew Leissing notched two goals for the Knights.

The Crimson Eagles slip to 5-10-2 on the season following the loss.

The team will switch gears this Thursday when PBU hosts Valley Forge Christian College during the opening round of the NCCAA East Region playoffs. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
