Men's Soccer Stumbles Against Gwyned-Mercy

Box Score

GWYNEDD-VALLEY, PA -
Following their first two game winning streak of the season, the Crimson Eagles failed to keep their recent burst of momentum going Tuesday evening, falling to Gwynedd-Mercy College 3-1.

PBU came into the game with back-to-back shutouts in hand, a stretch that included a span of 215 straight scoreless minutes from the opposition. Unfortunately, the streak didn't last on Tuesday as the Griffins posted two scores within a minute of one another during the back end of the opening frame.

Gwynedd forward Tim Munsey broke the scoreless tie during the 37th minute and assisted on Tyler Ward's goal less than 60 ticks later, giving the host squad a 2-0 edge.

The Griffins would receive their third score of the evening from junior Lou Vessels 20 minutes into the back end of play to help GMC to a three goal cushion. PBU finally got in the scoring books with 15 minutes remaining when rookie forward Gary Bruce notched his fifth goal over the squad's last three games.

Gwynedd ended the evening with a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corners taken.

The Crimson Eagles slip to 2-3-1 in conference play following Tuesday's loss while the Griffins improve to 2-2.

The soccer team will look to bounce back on Thursday during a non-conference tilt with Berkeley College at 4:00 pm in Langhorne.
