Gwynedd-Mercy Overpowers Crimson Eagles

Box Score

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy College used an early spurt during the second frame to break open a 33-19 halftime edge Thursday night as the Griffins rolled 77-33 against the Crimson Eagles.

Gwynedd shot 50 percent from the floor for the game and won the turnover battle 25-13, clicking on all cylinders during their first CSAC contest of the new year.

The Griffins held major advantages in nearly every statistical category, perhaps made no more evident than their 18-0 margin in fast break buckets. Gwynedd also stifled PBU into their worst shooting percentage of the season as the Crimson Eagles found nylon on just 26.4 percent of their field goal attempts.

Ten players scored for the host squad, a mark spearheaded by junior Jon Hogga who closed out the game with 17 points and nine boards. Third-year forward Charles Kennedy led PBU with 12 points and seven boards in 31 minutes of action.

The Crimson Eagles fall to 2-9 with the loss.

PBU will return to action on Monday when the group travels to Neumann College to take on the Knights in Aston at 8:00 pm.
