Owls Fly Past Eagles

Box Score

BRYN MAWR, PA – With the departure of over half of their routine starters from a season ago, the Crimson Eagles knew that in order to pick up any early season wins, they'd have to mesh early.

Although they weren’t able to come out with the victory part of the equation in their opening contest of the year, PBU found out Tuesday afternoon that at least the chemistry aspect is moving in the right direction.

The Crimson Eagles ended up falling on the road to Bryn Mawr College, 2-0, despite the group’s spirited effort.

"It was a good opening game for us in light of the fact that it was our first time in a live 11 on 11 game situation,” noted head coach Clay Roberts after the match. "I'm encouraged by some of the positive things we showed. Unfortunately we did not finish our chances."

The Owls tallied a single score in both periods, blasting 23 shots for the day en route to their first win of the season. Bryn Mawr’s Jillian Forde quickly erased an early deadlock in the opening minutes of the first half, putting home an unassisted score at the 12:16 mark. The Owls would follow up with a second goal late in the back end of play to ultimately seal the game.

“We’re a relatively young team, and so it’s no-doubt going to take some time for us to be comfortable with one another out there before we put it all together,” continue Roberts. “But I believe we’re moving in the right direction.”

Senior keeper Kristen Lyszczasz tallied 14 saves in a losing effort for PBU.

The Crimson Eagles will once again go for their first win of the season on Thursday during the team’s home opener. PBU is slated to go up against Rutgers-Camden at 4:00 pm.
