Cedar Crest steals one of two from PBU

ALLENTOWN, PA - The softball team scraped by in a 2-1 triumph over Cedar Crest College in game one Saturday afternoon but couldn't pull off a second victory, falling 11-10 during the second outing.

The loss makes a doubleheader sweep of Immaculata University on Sunday necessary for the Crimson Eagles to qualify for the CSAC playoffs.  If that should happen, the two teams will finish the season with identical 12-10 records but PBU would win the tiebreaker based on head-to-head results.

On Saturday, PBU scored four runs on just two hits - both coming in the second inning -  to scamper past Cedar Crest 2-1.  Both runs came of a Bethany Hill home run.  Although the bats would come alive in the second outing, the Falcons score the game winning run in extra innings, notching a single score spraked by three Crimson Eagle errors in the inning.

Lauren Roth completed the afternoon with three hits including a home run and Megan Garven provided two throughout the day.

PBU will play in their final CSAC contest of the season Sunday afternoon when the team hosts Immcaulata University at 1:00 pm.
