Playoff seeding heats up after PBU split

LANGHORNE, PA
- With just four conference games remaining following PBU's split with Marywood University Friday afternoon, the Crimson Eagles will be in the "win, or go home" mode down the final stretch of their schedule.

Needing to steal at least one victory over the third place Pacers of Marywood University in order to stay alive, the Crimson Eagles kept their postseason thoughts alive by pulling out a 6-3 triumph over the visitors in game one.

Led by a superb pitching performace from junior thrower Betsy Ranck on the mound, the softball team kept Marywood scoreless until the top of the seventh when the Pacers pumped in three runs to help prevent the shutout. Despite actually getting outhit 9-6 for the game the Crimson Eagles knocked in three scores in both the fifth and sixth innings, sparked by a couple of errors from Marywood on the defensive end.

Game two was somewhat of a different story as Marywood sprinted out to a 3-0 edge and added four more scores in the third to go ahead 7-0. The Pacers closed out the game by a final margin of 7-2 despite two hits apiece from Jess Odgen and Jackie Morrow.

Currently deadlocked in the sixth and final playoff spot with both Keystone and Gwynedd-Mercy College, the Crimson Eagles will in all likelyhood need to win out to give the group a shot at making the CSAC Touranment.

The team will play in a huge matchup with Cedar Crest College on the road tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm before hosting Immaculata University in Langhorne at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
