Centenary shuts down PBU's offense

LANGHORNE, PA
- How many pitchers have the stamina and ability to toss 14 innings of softball over the span of four hours?

Following Thursday, the Crimson Eagle softball team can name at least one.

Centenary College's Sarah Olsen did just that, allowing just seven hits for the day and only a single run during the Cyclones' double-header matchup with PBU. Olsen proved to be nearly perfect through 14 innings of work, fanning 12 batters in the opening contest while walking just one batter throughout the course of both contests.

With Ali Knapp opening game one on the mound for Centenary, the beginning outing would see the Crimson Eagles get off to a quick start during which the team tallied a score in the bottom of the first to even things at one-all. With PBU in attack mode, the Cyclones didn't hesitant to make a change as the visitors quickly brought in Olsen to clean up the early mess.

Olsen responded by flat out getting the job done.

PBU would ammass just four hits in the opening game while Centenary, although by no means producing an offensive gem, hit and scored enough to end up cruising in a 5-2 triumph in the first matchup.

The storyline wouldn't change much in game two as the Crimson Ealges offensive statline was once again bareboned as the group managed just four hits and no runs during a 4-0 loss. It marks just the third time the team has been held scoreless all year.

Needing several wins down the stretch to secure a playoff berth, the softball team will play in another huge matchup tomorrow afternoon against Marywood University. Game one of the doubleheader in Langhorne will begin at 3:00 pm.
