Camden, NJ
- Battling cold, gusty, and downright nasty weather, the softball team surrendered back-to-back games in non-conference action against Rutgers-Camden late Thursday night, falling to the Scarlet Raptors by scores of 5-0 and 11-3.

In what was originally planned to be a beautiful March evening, the Crimson Eagles instead were forced to battle offensive hardships late Tuesday night, along with frigid 32 degree weather. Unfortunately, as the temperature went south so did PBU's plate effectiveness as the group managed just 10 hits and three runs through two games and 13 innings of play.

Despite allowing just four hits and two earned runs in the opening contest, the Crimson Eagles struggled to provide junior ace Betsy Ranck any type of run support as PBU stranded eight runners for the game en route to their first shutout loss of the season.

Game two watched the Scarlet-Raptors dramatically pick up their offensive efficiency as Rutgers drilled 14 hits in 33 at bats, giving the group a .424 batting average throughout the second contest of the evening. PBU was shackled defensively with six costly blunders, a stat made all the more significant considering the squad allowed just five earned runs throughout the rest of the game.

Senior outfielder Jessica Ogden led the way with three hits in five plate appearences for the Crimson Eagles, adding a score and a walk in the process. Rookie shortstop Sara Poole charted two hits in six at bats and freshman catcher Jackie Morrow finished two for five on the night.

The softball team will return to action this Friday in a home double-header with Cabrini College. Game time is 3:00 pm.
