PHOENIXVILLE, PA - In a desperate attempt to keep their season alive, the men's basketball team fell short on the road Friday evening, dropping a 79-66 decision to Valley Forge Christian College in the East Region Semi-Finals.
Despite 19 offensive boards and 21 second chance points from the Crimson Eagles, the visitors were unable to combat 12 triples from the Patriots on the night as Valley rolled to a 37-26 advantage by the intermission.
Down by as many as 19 midway through the second period, a determined Crimson Eagle squad refused to concede, battling back to within seven late in the contest. But the late-game rally proved to be too little too late as the Patriots connected on a handful of clutch free throws down the stretch to preserve their spot in the championship bout.
Valley Forge moves onto the East Region Title game where the team will face third seeded Lancaster Bible College - who managed a surprise 15-point upset over Davis College - on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
