JOHNSON CITY, NY - It was an early Thanksgiving feast for the men's basketball squad Tuesday evening as the Crimson Eagles picked up their second win of the year during a 66-57 triumph on the road over Davis College.
For the second straight outing PBU hit at a 47 percent clip from the field en route to a victory within NCCAA II East Region play. After registering just a single tally in the win column a year ago, the Crimson Eagles have already surpassed last year's mark with back-to-back wins over a three day span.
On Tuesday, PBU would jump out to an early lead but would see their edge shrink before halftime, taking a slim 28-25 margin into the break. But a quick burst to open the second stanza would help propel the advantage to nine halfway through the back end of play.
Davis would close the gap to three with less four minutes remaining, but a composed effort from the free throw stripe down the stretch would help the Crimson Eagles keep the Falcons at arms length the remainder of the way.
PBU limited the host squad to 33.9 percent shooting for the game and surpressed an effective offensive attack as the Falcons came into the contest averaging nearly 82 points per game. The Crimson Eagles would also hold a significant edge in points in the paint, winning the battle inside 40-18.
Second-year forward Luke Taylor provided a team high 18 points to go with 13 boards in 31 minutes of work. Senior captain Ben Fuller added 17 points while snagging eight boards off the glass, and Fred Santucci chipped in with nine points and six rebounds in the winning effort.
PBU will take nearly a week off from game action but will return to the court next Monday when the squad heads to Cabrini College to compete in their first CSAC outing of the season. Game time against Cavaliers is 8:00 pm.
