YARDLEY, PA - Playing in a familiar setting, senior forward Phil Haas continued his scoring barrage Wednesday afternoon during the NCCAA East Region Semi-Finals, providing four scores during a 6-1 Crimson Eagle win over Davis College.
The win places PBU in the Championship game, where the group will try and vie for their fifth straight NCCAA regional title on Friday against Lancaster Bible College.
Due to poor field conditions at PBU, the game was moved to Macclesfield Park in Yardley, which just happens to be Haas' hometown. Returning to the field where he played growing up, Haas netted a hat-trick within the first 24 minutes of play to help give the Crimson Eagles a 3-1 edge. PBU's only slip-up on the day came in the 14th minute when the Falcons' Evan Hickernell slipped the ball past keeper Andy Ecker to notch things up at 1-apiece.
But thanks to Haas's first half effort along with a Jeremy Dunham score in the 31st minute, PBU would enjoy a 4-1 advantage at the break.
Haas would add his fourth goal of the game and team-leading 14th score of the season 15 minutes into the back end of play, and sophomore Justin Hays would get in on the action posting his fifth goal of the year less than four minutes later.
The Crimson Eagles would end up out-gunning the Falcons by a margin of 22-10 for the day.
The triumph advances the Crimson Eagles into the East Region Championship where they'll face Lancaster Bible College in Langhorne on Friday at 3:00 pm. The winner of that match will receive an automatic bid to the NCCAA II National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.
