LANCASTER, PA – Looking to rebound following their first loss in almost two weeks on Tuesday, the Crimson Eagles did exactly that Thursday night by generating back-to-back wins at the expense of rivals Lancaster Bible College and Valley Forge Christian College.

In an NCCAA II East Region showdown, the eighth-ranked team in the nation overcame both local rivals to help give PBU eight wins in their last ten contests.

The Crimson Eagles began things by defeating the host Chargers by scores of 25-17, 25-11, 12-25, and 25-9.

“Give credit to Lancaster - they’re a good team.” said head coach Julie Brubaker at the conclusion of the day’s events. “They really kept us on our toes this afternoon and made us work for every point. It definitely wasn’t easy.”

Becky Williams, the reigning CSAC Player of the Week, had yet another outstanding match against the Chargers as the senior outside hitter finished with a season high 23 kills on a game high .528 hitting percentage. Williams also finished with nine digs, three assists, and three total blocks to fill out a complete stat sheet. First year outside hitter Rebekah Morrison chipped in eight kills and three assist, while sophomore libero Kay Lynn Zeiset added nine defensive saves.

Facing Valley Forge Christian in match number two on the day, the Crimson Eagles handled the Patriots by scores of 25-6, 25-13, and 25-11. Morrison spearheaded the offensive attack this time finishing with 10 kills and a .600 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Carly Plank chipped in seven digs, five kills, and a game high five aces and helped lead what ended up being a 17-0 run in favor of PBU during set number three. Junior setter Betsy Ranck dished out 29 helpers in the match and added to service aces.

“It was good to pick up a couple of regional wins tonight,” Brubaker said. “I was also happy that we were able to get everyone some playing time and see everyone contribute.”

Following the days events, the Crimson Eagles currently stand at 12-6 overall.

On Saturday, the Crimson Eagles will host a tri-match in the Mason Activity Center, beginning with their second meeting in as many weeks with Philadelphia University (3-6) at 11:00 am. PBU defeated the Rams in a 3-2 nail-biter just two weeks ago. The Crimson Eagles will take on Alvernia College (2-9) later that afternoon at 3:00 pm.
