D'Youville Defeats PBU in Consolation Match

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - The Crimson Eagles were handed a 73-62 loss in the consolation match of the Chick-fil-A Christmas Classic Saturday afternoon.

Former NEAC foe D’Youville College managed the 11 point victory behind a stellar offensive performance from an All-Conference performer. Spartan senior Charles Walker, a First Team All-NEAC member a year ago, dropped 26 points on eight of 15 shooting including 20 in the first half alone.

Despite 18 offensive rebounds and a 37-29 board margin overall, the Crimson Eagles struggled from beyond the arc connecting on just five of 26 attempts throughout the evening. Turnovers were once again a major factor for the host squad as the group committed 20 cough-ups marking the fourth time this year they’ve finished with 20-plus turnovers.

Senior forward Tom Arthur paced PBU as the only player in double figures, finishing with 26 points and 10 boards, including eight on the offensive glass. Senior Dan O’Brien added seven points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Austin McCardle, Willie Miller, Jared Wilcox, and Jon Delgado each chipped in with six points.

The Crimson Eagles will have over a month break from game action, returning to the floor next January 7 to take on Cabrini College in their first ever CSAC contest. Game time is 7:00 pm in Langhorne.
