Soccer Squad Falls in East Region Title Bout

Box Score

SCRANTON, PA - For the third straight year the women's soccer team advanced to the NCCAA II East Region Title game, only to face all-too well-known rival Baptist Bible College.

And, for the third consecutive season - by virtue of a multi-goal win - the Defenders managed to upend the Crimson Eagles to capture their third straight regional banner.

Baptist scored three first half goals en route to a four score win Saturday afternoon, ending PBU's season and hopes to advance to the NCCAA II National Tournament.

The Crimson Eagles knew they had their work cut out for them entering Saturday’s contest. The Defenders managed a 7-0 shutout win in Langhorne earlier in the year, haven’t lost in nine outings, and are currently ranked number one in the nation in NCCAA II.

As if the odds weren’t already stacked up enough against the visitors, PBU entered the title bout having lost seven straight contests to the defending East Regional Champs.

Baptist managed to rocket off 25 shots in their most recent victory while allowing just a single scoring opportunity for PBU. The Defenders had 10 players fire off at least one shot and had four different players get a stroke in the scoring column in their 14th win of the year.

Crimson Eagle junior keeper Kristen Lyszcasz and the back line did their best to fend off a furious offense attack as Lyszcasz managed eight saves in the loss.

PBU ends their season with a 7-13 overall record.
