LANGHORNE, PA - Looking to keep their unblemished conference record in tact, the women's volleyball team did just that Wednesday night, steamrolling through Rosemont College in three sets to record their fourth straight CSAC win to start the season.
The Crimson Eagles won by scores of 25-7, 25-11, and 25-10 during a match in which PBU tallied their best attacking percentage on the year (.379) and blistered the Rambler defensive line with 21 aces, smashing their previous high in that category by six full aces.
After holding a somewhat slim 7-4 early lead in the opening rally, the Crimson Eagles strung off 18 of the next 21 points to secure an altogether convincing victory in the opening set. Games two and three didn’t fair much better for the guests as PBU limited Rosemont to 21 total points in the final two stanzas.
Wednesday’s match saw 10 of 11 Crimson Eagle players register at least one kill, while nine of 11 had at least two or more. Additionally, nine of 11 players charted at least one dig on a night when PBU allowed the opposition just two total kills and a -.21 hitting percentage for the match.
Junior setter Betsy Ranck finished with (a career high) eight of PBU’s 21 aces while rookie outside hitter Rebekah Morrison added a game high six kills, five digs, and six aces, giving the tandem a combined total of 14 aces.
The Crimson Eagles – who are currently chasing Neumann College (5-0 CSAC) for the top spot in the conference – improve to 16-7 with the victory including a 4-0 mark in CSAC action. Rosemont remains winless following Wednesday’s defeat as the Ramblers slip to 0-16 (0-5 CSAC) on the year.
PBU will head to Clarks Summit, PA for an important meeting with Baptist Bible College in their next contest set for this Saturday at 11:00 am.
