KISSIMMEE, FL - The men's soccer team wrapped up their season on a positive note Monday afternoon, defeating Clearwater Christian College 3-1 in the consolation match of the NCCAA Tournament. The win secures third place for the Crimson Eagles in Division II playoffs.
Senior forward Derek Mosely had another standout game in his final contest as a Crimson Eagle, notching two goals in the first half to help push PBU past the fifth ranked Cougars. Senior midfielder Andrew Heath scored PBU's third goal of the day midway through the second stanza when he capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity after a Clearwater foul in the box.
Down 3-0, the Cougars responded with their only score of the contest with just over two minutes left in the game to push the final score to 3-1. Clearwater finishes their season with an overall record of 17-4-2.
Mosely's two scores on the day gives him a final season count of 19, while Heath's ended up being his first and only goal of his senior campaign. Senior Andy Miller and sophomore Graham Foster each notched assists during the contest.
With the close of the 2007 season, the Crimson Eagles will be forced to say goodbye to numerous seniors who have been the cornerstone of the PBU soccer team for the past several seasons. Andy Miller, Derek Mosely, Dan Schlegel, Brent Fornwalt, Andrew Heath, and Marc Myers all played in their last game as Crimson Eagles.
The soccer team ends the season with a final standing record of 17-6-2.
