FF: Cairn Splits Tri-Match

Langhorne, PA - Highlanders Split pair of Conference Games

Game 1:
Cairn (2-1 / 2-1 UNITED EAST) got a hot start from their offense with junior Quarterback Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights / FL Keystone Heights) capping of the first Highlander drive with a 26 yard touchdown pass to senior wide-receiver Abigail Stange (East Earl, PA / Homeschool). After this drive the Highlander offense stalled for the remainder of the first half, but a strong defensive performance ensured Cairn and Keystone (0-4 / 0-3 UNITED EAST) entered the half knotted up 6-6.

The second half saw more strong play on the defensive end for both teams. The game remained scoreless until there was under 1-minute remaining in the fourth quarter with Cairn pushing into Keystone territory. Bright dropped a pass off to sophomore runningback Juliana Condurso (Brick, NJ / Calvary Academy) who scampered around defenders and scored a 22 yard touchdown to give the Highlanders a 12-6 lead with 15 seconds remaining in the game. Keystone's offense returned to the field for one last drive, the Giant's quarterback dropped back and threw up a pass that was intercepted by junior Katie Morrill to clinch the game for Cairn. Bright took a knee on the final play of the contest and the Highlanders escaped with a 12-6 win.

Game 2:
The Highlander's second game of the day saw them face off with Gallaudet (3-0 / 3-0 UNITED EAST). The game started out as a close affair with the first quarter ending with a 6-6 tie after Bright threw a bomb from midfield to hit Morrill in stride for a Highlander touchdown. The Bison tacked on another score before half to lead 13-6. The Highlanders failed to find their footing in the second half and Gallaudet pulled away to win by a final score of 32-6.

Cairn will return to action March 28th for another tri-match.
