WVB: Dahn Records 1000th Career Dig in Cairn Victory

Langhorne, PA - Highlanders Down Falcons in 3-0 Sweep.

Cedar Crest (4-15 / 1-7 United East) got off to a strong start, going up 9-4 to start the match. The Highlanders responded with 4 straight points, including back-to-back aces by junior Libero Liliana Magazzu (Reading, PA / Exeter Township). The Falcons responded with a short run before Cairn (13-6 / 5-2 United East) tied the match at 12. Cedar Crest built an 18-15 advantage, and Cairn responded with another 4-0 to take the lead, this time capping it off with a kill by sophomore outside hitter Marah Lehman (Chambersburg, PA / Chambersburg). The two teams traded points until the match was tied at 20, where the Highlanders rattled off 5 straight points to close the match, with a kill by senior opposite hitter Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury Christian) putting an exclamation point on the set.

Set number two saw the two teams stay close early with Cairn leading 8-7 after 15 points. The Highlanders used another 4-0 run to build up their lead, but the Falcons battled back and got within 2 at 13-11. From here a pair of aces by Lehman and 2 kills by senior outside hitter Bridget Dahn (Smithsburg, MD / Heritage Academy) fueled an 8-0 Highlander run. Kills by Searls and junior middle hitter Maddie Shackelford (Warrington, PA / Plumstead Christian School) helped Cairn take set 2 25-15. During the second set Dahn recorded her 1000th career dig.

Set 3 saw another close start with Cairn trailing 13-14. The Highlanders rallied and won 9 of the next 10 points to take a commanding lead. A late kill by Dahn helped Cairn win 25-17.
