MTEN: Men’s Tennis Kicks off Fall Home Opener with Loss to Rutgers-Camden

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Men's Tennis team kicked their fall season off against Rutgers-Camden falling, 1-6.
 
DOUBLES PLAY
 
Cairn (0-1) got the day started off with doubles, with all three doubles teams falling short in the early stages. Starting off, seniors Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical high School) and Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian HS) kicked off the season as #1 doubles, falling 6-0. Sophomore Matheo Baez (Ibarra, Ecuador / Victoria Bilingual Christian Academy) and junior Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) posted a hard-fought battle in their #2 doubles debut, falling 6-3. Senior Evan Ciccone (Tinton Falls, NJ / Monmouth Regional) and junior Kirk Prasch (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy High School) took on the #3 doubles match, putting up a good fight, but eventually falling short 6-2.
 
SINGLES
 
Cairn got singles play started off with Baez taking on the #1 singles match, having a tough time, but left it all on the court, falling 6-0, 6-0. Nacy took on #2 singles and put up a very good fight, going into a 3-set tiebreaker, falling just short in a tight contest, 10-6 in the breaker. In the #3 singles match, Stange took control and took care of business for the start of his Senior season, winning 6-1, 7-5. Gossel put up a hard fought battle in his #4 singles match but fell short by a score of 6-3 in the third set for the Highlanders. Ciccone fought hard in the #5 singles match, but came up short with a score of 6-4, 6-3. For the #6 singles, Prasch fell short by a score of 6-1, 6-3 in his junior debut.
 
The Highlanders will look to bounce back on Saturday against Immaculata University in non-conference play In Langhorne, PA at 12 pm.
