MTEN: Cairn Ends Season Finale with 6-1 Loss

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Men's Tennis team took on Penn State Berks in United East Conference play for their Senior day, losing by a score of 6-1.
 
DOUBLES PLAY:
Sophomore Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) and freshman Matheo Baez (Ibarra, Ecuador / Victoria Bilingual Christian Academy) both played doubles for the first time, having a rough go at it, falling 6-0 in the #1 doubles slot. Junior Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical HS) and classmate Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian HS) took on the #2 doubles play with each other for the first and final time, as they came very close to a win, being up 5-1, but falling 7-5. The #3 doubles was a winner by forfeit in favor of Cairn.
 
SINGLES PLAY:
Stange took on the #1 singles and had a tough time, going 6-1, 6-1 against the Nittany Lions. Baez fought hard in his #2 singles matchup as he was able to get a well-deserved 5 total games, but came just short with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Gossel celebrated his senior day in honor of the Highlanders, with friends and family supporting him for his final spring match. He had a rough go against Berks, falling 6-1, 6-1, but putting up tremendous effort all season long. Nacy found himself in a similar scenario as Stange, falling 6-1, 6-2, but leaving it all out on the court for the final match of spring. Junior Evan Ciccone (Eatontown, NJ / Monmouth Regional High School) battled hard in his first set, but losing 6-4 in his first, and having a tough time recovering after a long week of matches, falling by a score of 6-4, 6-0 to close out his first official singles season. #6 singles was a win by forfeit in favor of Cairn.
