LANGHORNE, PA – The No. 1 seeded Cairn University Women's Tennis team hosted No. 2 Notre Dame of Maryland University for the United East Women's Tennis Championship – Divisional Championship at the McCurdy Tennis Facility, making quick work of the Gators, 5-0.
The Highlanders swept doubles play, leading off with freshman
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) & junior
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delaware County Christian) defeated their #1 doubles opponents 8-1 followed by senior
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) & freshman
Laney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach High School) who came out on top in a close #2 doubles bout, 8-5. Seniors
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) and
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) wrapped up doubles 8-2.
With a 3-0 advantage, Griffith swept #1 singles to put the Highlanders one point away from a match win as Neal clinched the Divisional Championship for Cairn 6-0/6-2 in #2 singles.
The Highlanders will face the No. 1 seed on the Volt Division side of the bracket on Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club for the United East Championship match.
