ABINGTON, PA – The Cairn University Men's Tennis team opened United East Conference play on Saturday at Penn State – Abington as the Nittany Lions shutout the Highlanders in a rain-shortened 7-0 match.
DOUBLES PLAY
- Graduate student Timothy Robinson Jr. (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) and senior Michael Wilson (New Hope, PA / New Hope-Solebury) led off in #1 singles, coming up short as they battled to an 8-4 defeat.
- Sophomore Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical) and freshman Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) came up just short in #3 doubles, dropping the matchup 8-6.
SINGLES PLAY
- In singles play, the Highlanders were shutout 4-0 before the final two pairings were called due to inclement weather.
The weather also resulted in the Cairn Women's Tennis matchup with the Nittany Lions being postponed as a suspended game with the Highlanders up, 4-1.
Cairn Tennis will take on Clarks Summit University on Wednesday as they continue conference play.
