LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 9-0, on against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Notre Dame on Maryland University at home on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, and will enter next week's conference championship tournament as the No. 1 seed for the fourth consecutive season. Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot) for her contributions and leadership to the program over her career.
Cairn (8-5, 5-0 CSAC) won all three matches in doubles play over Notre Dame (4-4, 2-3 CSAC) paced by Kemper and sophomore
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Junior
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Veritas, VA / Veritas School) and sophomore
Rebekah Hepp collected a an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, and juniors
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) and
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) also nabbed an 8-2 victory.
Kemper notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over her opponent at No. 1 singles, while Campbell-Robertson earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot. Neal won 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 slot, while Horning earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Hepp posted a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in the No. 5 slating, and Hurst rounded out the day for Cairn with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 singles.
The Highlanders will now prepare for next week's CSCA Championship Tournament, and will host the conference semifinals as the No. 1 seed on Friday, April 28 at a time TBA.
